Alex Johnson is a principal with the San Diego office of Milliman specializing in pharmacy benefit consulting. He joined the firm in 2016.
Alex specializes in managing prescription drug costs for payers through effective contracting, analytics, and benefit design optimization. He provides pharmacy benefit consulting services to a variety of clients, including employer groups, union funds, health plans, public sector entities, and coalitions. Alex has 15 years of consulting experience. Previously, he worked for a national pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) for five years where he held leadership roles in pricing and account management.
Alex conducts PBM RFPs, executes successful Market Checks, negotiates pharmacy benefit contracts, manages vendor implementations, audits PBM performance, and provides ongoing fiscal management.
